The towers, designed by the Japanese architect Toyo Ito, are destined to become another of the great architectural icons of Barcelona.

The construction of the Fira Towers is framed by an extensive urbanization plan which includes the reformation of Gran Via as it passes through L'Hospitalet and the expansion of Fira Barcelona, the entire design of which is credited to Toyo Ito.

Two buildings, both reddish in colour, each the reflection of the other -this is the effect which Toyo Ito wishes to produce amongst the thousands of drivers passing each day on Gran Via. The objective is to make of these two edifices a new gateway to Barcelona . The two towers are a reference to the Venetian ones which frame the entrance to the historic grounds at Plaça Espanya.
