Pavilion 1, designed by the Japanese architect Toyo Ito, is located just beyond the North Fair Gate and constitutes the new façade of the grounds with respect to Pedrosa A Street . Its most unique feature is the organic wall running along the entire length of the pavilion.

Pavilion 1 is diaphanous one-storey building, accessible from the vestibule at Plaça Europa. It has a total of 24.073,00 m2 constructed, 9.374 m2 of which are vendible, and 433 m2 are dedicated to food services

On the deck of the pavilion there is a two-pad heliport which has direct access from the vestibule.

The competition for the work was divided into two phases:

Phase 1: Structure and Architecture. Adjudication was held in May 2005. The works began in September 2005 and its completion is projected for January 2007.

Phase 2: Facilities. Adjudication was held in 2005. The works were begun in February 2006 and their completion is projected for January 2007.

Transport facilities (elevators, escalators and moving walkways) were adjudicated in May 2005, in a competition including all the transport systems of the grounds
